Segment

Segment sends product events into Altertable when Segment is already the event router for your application. Altertable becomes an analytical destination where raw behavior can be queried beside revenue, support, operations, and product data.

After events land in Altertable, you can analyze them with SQL, dashboards, product analytics visualizations, Ask AI, and downstream tools connected to the lakehouse.

When to use Segment

Use this path when:

  • Your application already tracks events through Segment.
  • You want Altertable to receive a copy of those events without changing application instrumentation.
  • Product behavior needs to be joined with other lakehouse catalogs.

If you are not already using Segment, send events directly through Altertable's product analytics SDKs or ingestion APIs instead.

Setup outline

  1. Enable Product Analytics for the target Altertable environment.
  2. Create or choose a Segment source for your application.
  3. Add Altertable as a destination or webhook target in Segment.
  4. Configure the destination with the credentials and endpoint for your Altertable environment.
  5. Send a test event, then verify that events appear in the managed product_analytics catalog.
