Fivetran
Use Fivetran to load source data into Altertable through its standard PostgreSQL destination. Connect the destination to Altertable's Postgres adapter using your lakehouse credentials.
Goal
Configure a PostgreSQL destination in Fivetran, point it at an Altertable catalog, and verify a source sync with SQL.
Prerequisites
- A Fivetran account with permission to create or manage destinations.
- Your lakehouse username and password.
- A writable Altertable catalog for the synced data.
- A source ready to connect in Fivetran.
Steps
1. Add a PostgreSQL destination
In Fivetran, open Destinations, choose Add destination, and name it Altertable. Select PostgreSQL as the destination type and use the generic PostgreSQL setup with a direct connection.
2. Configure the connection
Enter the following connection details:
Field | Value |
|---|---|
Host | postgres.altertable.ai |
Port | 443 |
User | Your lakehouse username |
Password | Your lakehouse password |
Database | Your Altertable catalog name |
TLS/SSL | Required |
The database field selects the catalog where Fivetran writes data. Use credentials from the Altertable environment that owns that catalog. Altertable manages lakehouse credentials, so use those credentials in place of the PostgreSQL user creation steps in Fivetran's generic guide.
Complete the remaining destination settings for your Fivetran account, then choose Save & Test. See Fivetran's PostgreSQL destination setup guide for its current setup form and connection tests.
3. Run a source sync
Create a source connection in Fivetran and select the Altertable destination. Configure the destination schema for that connection, select the tables to sync, and start an initial sync.
Altertable exposes the PostgreSQL wire protocol but executes queries with DuckDB. Validate both the destination tests and a sync with your source before scheduling recurring loads, including updates and deletes if your source uses them.
