The Altertable MCP server is currently in development. We're working with design partners to build MCP support that enables AI agents to understand and query your data infrastructure.

Model Context Protocol (MCP)

Altertable supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that enables AI agents to securely access and interact with external systems.

Through MCP, AI assistants like Claude can connect directly to Altertable to query data, explore schemas, and assist with data analysis—all within the conversation context.

How MCP Works with Altertable

When an AI agent connects to Altertable via MCP, it can:

  • Access the semantic layer: Understand your table structures, column types, and relationships
  • Query data using SQL: Query any database connection directly using SQL
  • Preview dashboards and insights: Preview dashboards and insights as humans would do through the UI
  • Create new dashboards and insights: Create new dashboards and insights from scratch
  • Monitor data: Monitor data changes, anomalies and trends
  • Run ad-hoc analysis: Run ad-hoc analysis to explore, monitor and understand your data
  • Trigger notifications: Trigger notifications to your team when relevant
