# Storage

Managed lakehouse tables store their files in [Buckets](/docs/lakehouse/storage/buckets.md). You can use managed storage or connect a bucket in your infrastructure.

A storage bucket, a [bucket synchronizer](/docs/lakehouse/ingest/object-storage.md), and an [external catalog](/docs/lakehouse/external-catalogs.md) serve different purposes: storing managed tables, importing files, and querying existing data in place.
