Set up Claude

The Altertable plugin gives Claude access to Altertable Skills and the hosted MCP server.

Install the Altertable plugin

  1. Open Claude and go to Settings → Plugins.
  2. Click Add → Add marketplace.
  3. Select Add from a repository. The official Anthropic listing is pending review.
  4. Enter https://github.com/altertable-ai/skills.
  5. Keep auto-sync enabled to receive updates automatically.
  6. Click Sync. The Altertable plugin should appear immediately.

Connect and authorize Altertable MCP

  1. Find the Altertable plugin, open the Connectors tab, and click Connect for the altertable-mcp connector.
  2. When Claude asks whether you trust the destination, click Yes.
  3. On the authorization page:
    • Select your organization.
    • Select your environment.
    • Keep the mode set to Read-only unless Claude needs to change persistent resources.
  4. Click Authorize, then return to Claude.
  5. Start a new Claude chat. Altertable MCP should appear as connected, and the Altertable Skills should be available.

Verify

Start a new chat and enter:

/ask-altertable list my available catalogs

Claude should use the Altertable skill, call initialize, and then inspect the available catalogs.

Use

Prefix a question with /ask-altertable when you want Altertable to choose the right workflow:

/ask-altertable analyze web traffic for the last 30 days and call out meaningful changes

Use /query-altertable for a direct data question:

/query-altertable show daily signups for the last 30 days

Tools

  • Altertable Skills guide Claude through exploration, SQL, funnels, web traffic, insights, and platform operations.
  • Altertable MCP provides governed access to catalogs, queries, insights, findings, and tasks.

Update

When auto-sync is enabled, Claude syncs updates from the Altertable marketplace automatically. You can also return to Settings → Plugins, open the Altertable marketplace, and click Sync.

Troubleshooting

  • Plugin is missing: return to Settings → Plugins and sync the Altertable marketplace again.
  • Skills do not appear: confirm that the plugin is installed, then start a new Claude chat.
  • MCP is not connected: open the plugin's Connectors tab and reconnect altertable-mcp.
  • Authorization does not finish: complete the authorization page, select an organization and environment, and then return to Claude.
  • Wrong environment is connected: disconnect altertable-mcp and authorize it again with the correct environment.
